I've heard this many times in comments made by members when they are asked to describe themselves on a profile. Online dating in reality is no different that meeting people on the street, clubs or other venues. We still attempt to put on our best face, our nicest clothes and present the best side of ourselves to those we are interesting in meeting for dating or friendships. Yes, WE do advertise ourselves, just like, well...peacocks!
