Amazingly enough there are still people in our society who believe that people should not date outside their race and who contend that interracial dating when it applies to certain groups like Asian women dating white men and black women dating white men is an indication of insecurity on the part of one race, usually the non-Caucasian and using the White individual as a status symbol.

We here at lovescove.com encourage open and honest communication about love and interracial relationships. In communicating publicly on the subject please respect the opinions of others while defending your own viewpoints. Sometimes it's best just to walk away from a situation and continue on in your individual pursuit. Life is short.

Ideally, race should not play a role in determining whom we will and will not, or more to the point whom we can and cannot love. What connects two people in meaningful friendships is mental, emotional and spiritual in nature. Physical connections seldom form the basis of any lasting relationship. And physical attraction itself is not subject to social rules and regulations. Telling two people that they should not find each other attractive because they are from opposing racial backgrounds will not effectively quell the physical attraction between them.

Although laws have changed and all people are regarded equal in concept, racism is still very much an issue in societies throughout the world. Polarization exists within most communities. Racial tension is very real, and persons involved in interracial relationships often seek to separate themselves from the realities of racism; but this ambition is usually quite futile.

An interracial couple walking down the street is often gawked at, sometimes openly jeered. People are uncomfortable on all sides of the issue. And the interracial couple has a choice to scoff at people and flaunt their relationship or to try to understand the truths that lie at the base of people's attitudes.

Do people simply hate just to hate? Do people feel threatened? The white man who denounces black men white women relationships, is there more to his expressed contempt than pure racism? The black woman who resents white women who date black men is there more to her resentment than meets the eye.

Can persons involved in interracial relationships afford to separate themselves from the issue?

Lovescove.com is committed to doing more than just bringing together persons seeking to date interracially. We encourage persons involved in interracial relationships or seeking to become involved in interracial relationships to join in an open discussion for the purpose of exploring attitudes both in support and in opposition of interracial dating.
