The White Point of View
It is often asked why black men date white women and why black women date white men; but the question of why White women date Black men and why White men date Black women is not as frequently examined.
It is less common to find Whites, even those actively involved in interracial relationships who will tell you that they will only date Blacks. The larger majority of Whites who date interracially do not do so exclusively, by contrast to the number of interracially dating Blacks who refuse to consider dating other Blacks as a viable option.
Reasons vary from person to person and by gender. Many White women who generally choose Black men as their mate find that they get more respect and considerate treatment from Black partners than from White.
Dale Grayson, an opponent of Interracial relationships, offers his explanation thusly: "A Black man in a relationship with a White woman is more likely to go the extra mile to please his woman because he often considers her a prize he never thought he could win in the first place, so now that he's won her, his very life depends on not losing her. He spends the rest of the relationship paying homage."
As far as White men and Black women are concerned, these relationships are considerably fewer. Often the White man is someone who has had a long-standing curiosity or fascination with Black women because of their so-called exoticness. It is very rare to find a White man who considers a Black woman his ideal choice for a lifetime mating; but there are cases of such, some involving famous persons such as David Bowie and super model Iman.
White men black women relationships are growing in numbers; but these types of relationships are perhaps more complicated than Black men white women relationships. Many Black women find that White men will date them but not be so quick to marry them.
